Suzuki Academy 10th Anniversary Celebration – March 20, 2017

Please plan to attend this exciting celebration of our Suzuki Academy’s 10th anniversary!

This special event will be held at the Queen Theater at 500 N. Market Street in downtown Wilmington. You should have received a flyer/invitation in the mail. Student performances will begin at 5:15 and official events should conclude a little after 8pm.

Not only will this be a fun party to celebrate our Suzuki Community, but the cello groups will be performing from 5:00-5:15 on the big stage! Please wear SA uniform, and I will send out repertoire list to confirmed participants.

In addition, Elisa (violin) and Amy Barston (cello) will be performing. Their mother was one of my teacher trainers, and both she and Amy have been clinicians at our Suzuki Day in the past. Amy lives in Swarthmore, and has a daughter in the SA. They are both wonderful, nationally renowned players. I promise you will find them inspiring!

I really hope to see you there – we need a great turnout to make it a worthwhile event! This is not a fundraiser for the school, and the school can only break even on the event’s expenses if we have a good turnout.

Here is the link to order tickets, or you may buy them at the Queen box office or call (302) 994-1400

Music School Open House info

There will be a cello group class for ALL LEVELS on Monday, April 3 at 5:00pm at the Wilmington Branch (room TBA.) There is no charge for this class, but I do need to know who will be there so I can prepare an appropriate lesson. I will send an assignment for this class to people on the list. There will be members of the public observing the class, so let’s show off how awesome cello class is! Please wear your Suzuki Academy uniform.

Suzuki Day 2017 Info

Suzuki Day is Saturday, March 25, 2017. Please plan to attend all day (9am-5pm) although your personal schedule might not include all of those hours. There is a link below which will tell you which group you are in, and the times and rooms you can find your classes. Please read the participant letter from Ms. Shelley!! If you have any concerns or find a conflict in your schedule, you need to contact her directly. I am not authorized to to make any changes to your schedule. However, if you just have a general question, I’m happy to answer as best I can.

If you are in Group A or B, you should have a masterclass, a group class, the cello play-in and an enrichment class. If you are in Group C, you will have a group class, an art enrichment class and the cello play-in. If you find that you aren’t assigned to one of these events, please let Ms. Shelley know.

You may wear the 10th anniversary Tshirt instead of the SA uniform shirt, if you choose.

Parents, please attend parent enrichment classes – AS MANY AS YOU CAN!! The topics are listed, and there is one nearly every hour. If you need babysitting during the class, that is also usually available. This is a great opportunity to get to know the other Suzuki Academy Faculty, and developing all three “legs” of the Suzuki Triangle is a key aspect of getting the most out of your Suzuki experience. If you don’t know what the “legs” are, YOU NEED PARENT ENRICHMENT!

PLEASE PLAN TO ATTEND THE FACULTY RECITAL AT 1PM! You may eat your lunch while attending the recital, if it’s the only time you have to eat. 🙂

2014 Summer lesson schedule

Here are the dates I’m teaching this summer. If you register for summer lessons by May 1, I believe they waive the registration fee. *Please note: I don’t teach in Dover or Pike Creek during the summer.* All lessons are at the Wilmington Branch.
June 10-12 (These are make-up lesson days, but if I don’t owe you any lessons, we can schedule summer lessons these days. June 14 is a regular Spring semester lesson day!)
June 16-19 (also make-up days, but see comment above)
June 23-25
June 30-July 3
July 7-10
July 28-29
August 12-14
August 18-21
I will be doing my own scheduling, so please let me know which days and times you would like your lessons. I will most likely teach in the afternoons from noon until closing. The school closes earlier in the summer – I think 7pm.
